Shannon Hoff is Professor of Philosophy at Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland. She is author of How to Read Hegel Now (Chicago, forthcoming 2026), The Laws of the Spirit: A Hegelian Theory of Justice (SUNY Press, 2014), and many articles in phenomenology and continental, political, and feminist philosophy. Her work generally is animated by the desire to mobilize powerful resources in the history of philosophy, particularly in phenomenology and German idealism, to speak to experiences of exclusion and oppression. She is currently writing a new book called A Phenomenology of Gender/Sex and making a record of original songs with her band, The Little Phrase.
