Peter Kwame Womber holds a PhD in Classics from Makerere University, Uganda; an M.Phil in Classics from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana; and a B.A. in Classics and African Studies from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. His PhD thesis, funded by the CHUSS/Gerda Henkel Stiftung-supported PhD Fellowship, focused on Greek and Ghanaian governance, leadership challenges and ethics, and the common good.

Peter’s research interests are specifically in governance, leadership, ethics, and the common good (Graeco-Roman and Contemporary Africa), Greek history and historiographical methods, and the reception history of Ancient Greek and Contemporary Africa. His publications, some co-authored and others single-authored, include: ‘Pragmatism versus Idealism: An Examination of Peisistratus’ Use of ‘Noble Lie’ as an Influence on Plato’s Political Philosophy’; ‘A defence of the historiographical approaches of Thucydides’ predecessors’; ‘Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum’s reception of Aristotle: Implications for classical scholarship in Africa’; ‘The Reception of Peisistratus’ Horizontal Egalitarianism in Sixth Century Attica: Implications for Scholarship’; and ‘Peisistratus’ Agricultural Policy: An Archetype for Ghana’s Fight Against Illegal Mining, Unemployment, and Safeguarding Sustainable Agriculture and Ecology’.

Peter is open to networking and collaborating with senior researchers, professionals, and fellows who are enthusiastic about classical scholarship and reception history (Graeco-Roman and African), thereby advancing teamwork aimed at uncovering relevant knowledge from classical scholarship to inform contemporary knowledge production, governance, leadership, general well-being, and mutual support for progressive growth.
