Olakunbi Olasope is a Professor of Classics at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her research interests are on Classical Reception Studies, Greek and Roman Theatre and Drama, and the social and cultural history of ancient Greece, especially classical Athens. She has also published numerous articles, reviews, interviews and book chapters on the reception of Greek tragedy in African performance culture and on Women and Gender in Graeco-Roman Antiquity. She has been a co-investigator with Luke Roman on the SSHRC funded collaboration, Classics at the Crossroads: Partnership, Mobility, and Exchange Between Ghana, Nigeria, and Canada, since 2019. Her contribution to The Cambridge Companion to Race and Classics, entitled 'Culture and Race in Classical Reception: West African Adaptations of Greek Tragedy', will be published in May 2026.
