Meredith Terretta is Professor of History at the University of Ottawa. Her research focus is the historical analysis of intersecting legal orders in Africa across decolonization and postcolonial state building processes. She has published on rights, international law, and decolonization in The Law and History Review; the Comparative Studies of South Asia, Africa and the Middle East; and the Humanity Journal: An International Journal of Human Rights, Humanitarianism, and Development.
Terretta is committed to capacity building in higher education and research through collaboration with African universities. She is now directing the SSHRC partnership develop project Frontiers of Belonging, an International Research Training Group studying displacement and belonging in West and Central Africa, with co-directors in Ghana and Cameroon.
