BLAVO, ETSRI BABATUNDE, PhD, is a lecturer at the Department of Classics, University of Ibadan where he teaches comparative ancient Roman socio-political history, Roman civil law, Roman Literature, Satire and Rhetoric. In 2015, he was a Leventis Foundation Research Scholar at the Department of Classics and Philosophy, University of South Africa in Pretoria, South Africa. His articles, published in local and international journals, include: 'Rhetoric of Literary Patronage in the Satires of Juvenal and Horace'; 'Satirising Women's "Virtues": A critical study of Juvenal and Ayinla Omowura’s Works  and Greco-Roman Educational Structure as a model for Shaping Nigeria’s Basic Education System'. In recent times, his research interest has shifted from Roman Literature to Roman Politics and cultural studies. One of his talks, 'Rhetoric of Hate Speech and Xenophobism in Juvenal Satires III & V', was presented at the  Indigenous Language Media in Africa Conference on Social Media, Fake News and Hate Speech at the Faculty of Humanities, North-West University, South Africa.

Blavo, Etsri Babatunde is a former Sub-Dean (Undergraduate) at the faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria. He has served the University in various capacities. He is currently the examination officer in the Department of Classics.
